Get your workout on

Ah. A workout. The gym is one of my favorite places in the entire world.  It’s where I currently work, but even better it’s where I watch people transform themselves from want-to-be’s to IS.

I don’t get as much time to workout as I’d like lately because my life is so consumed with School and Work. School meetings are taking a lot of time and of course work requires a lot of my time as well (which don’t get me wrong, I love BOTH) so my time for myself is suffering.

And so have my workouts. I was at 17.1% body fat as of December 11th, 2011. And as of a few weeks ago I had put quite a bit of that back on. It’s a depressing feeling, almost like a personal failure- but I had a very frank talk with a great friend, Personal Trainer and NPC Bikini Competitor, Abby Clark. She made me realize that I am not super woman and that I will bounce back, probably better than ever.  And she gave me the boost I needed today.

So I got my butt out of my chair today and into the weight room and I spent 45 minutes working out.

6 sets of:

  • 5 crunches
  • 5 push-ups
  • 5 pull-ups
  • 5 squats
  • 5 TRX rows
  • 20 seconds of plank
  • 1 lap around the track (each lap is 1/6 of a mile)

It felt good to get a workout in. I read so much lately about how sitting is killing us and I spend way too much time in a chair in front of a computer. At least 3 hours for every class and more then that at work.

But my body felt refreshed and my soul a little more at peace.

So today is my day one. Bathing suit season looms in the corner like a dark and scary beast and I want to be prepared to fight it.
